As we started adding all sorts of tea bags into our rice cooker over the last month, something caught my eye while I was alone in the office: A sachet of coffee powder.
Yeah, you know where this is going:
Unfortunately for me that afternoon, it's not a good idea, since the long cook time and high heat causes the coffee to rapidly oxidize. The end result being a very bitter and stale coffee taste. Even with the generous amount of salted egg chicken sauce that I poured onto it, the bitter aftertaste was still present. A fun experiment that gave me a strange lunch.
Well, at least you know what not to add into your rice cooker. :)
